Dentist: An individual who specializes in the health care of teeth. Study Dentistry.  Currently only offered in Otago University in New Zealand.

Detective:Work as a detective involves the solving of crimes, but more specifically it deals with investigations into fraud accusations, theft and bribery. The work involved is not as exciting as most TV shows would have you think. There is a lot of research and administration to be done, as well as long tedious hours spent on ideas that may amount to nothing in the end.

Dermatology: A doctor whom specializes in the treatment and study of the skin and its diseases. Study a Bachelor of Medicine and then specialize in Dermatology.

Dietician: Yes, fast food does taste pretty good but too much of it defiantly not advisable. In fact even eating ‘proper’ food in the wrong quantities is bad for your health. As a Dietician, you will have to do more than just advise people on how to beat the bulge. By using scientific methods and understanding the human body you will be able to properly inform patients how to get the maximum benefit from what they eat. You going to need to do pretty well in Maths and Science or Biology and require a pass for these subjects. Universities: UCT, Free State, UKZN, Pretoria, Western Cape, Wits and Venda.

Diplomat: An individual who represents their country in matters of a foreign nature. The individual is involved in government, study a degree in Politics or Economics.

Director (Business): An individual involved in the management and overall running of a particular section of a company or the whole company itself.

Director (Film/play): An individual who directs a film or a play. Study a degree in Drama or enter a film school. uniFriend's example Steven Spielberg.

Disk Jockey (DJ): An individual who plays music on radio, at events, etc. uniFriend's Example: Ian F

Draughter: Draughting involves sketching or drawing on a highly detailed level, the plans or blueprints of an object that is going to be built. This object may be a bridge, skyscraper or even an air-conditioning unit. All require a Draughter to design on paper a visual representation of the object, in order to help the builders and engineers create the finished product.

Diver: As a commercial diver, one usually does repairs or construction to underwater pipelines, ships, quays and oil rigs. One may also be involved in underwater salvaging or help in the rescuing of sinking ships.

Doctor: We all know what a Doctor is, don’t we? Well if not, Doctors are those super talented people that make sure we stay healthy and in ship shape condition. When you become a Doctor you will be qualified to practice medicine. Its gonna take you a long time to become a Doctor so you better get used to the idea of studying really hard! To study medicine, you will need to have graduated with at least NCEA level 3 or equivalent and have gained good marks in Maths and Science or Biology. New Zealand medical programs are undergraduate-entry programs of six years duration.  First year in most medical schools in New Zealand are open entry, meaning that you will be among the over 1000 students vying for the less than 200 places.  With tough competition for places your marks will often need to be a lot higher than the minimum requirements. Universities:  There are two main medical schools in New Zealand: the University of Auckland and the University of Otago. Each of these has subsidiary medical schools such as Otago's Wellington School of Medicine and Health Sciences and Auckland's Waikato Clinical School., General Practitioner (GP) and various different types of Surgeons.
